Haha, yeah I heard nick play that at third eye and double helix, so I figured I'd throw it in there too.  I think he gave a good yell when it came on Smiley

Abe, there seem to be some EQ'ing issues in this mix. Maybe it's just the shitty PC speakers that I listened to it on but the bass seems to just die during several transitions... almost like it was never turned up after you brought the track in.

I'll have to burn this out and listen in my car to know for sure Smiley

I noticed that too, but it didn't really take anything away from the overall mix.

Also, I listened to this again yesterday at the gym and realized I have that Darklines VA and didn't realize that track was so good Smiley.  Thanks Abe!

ya there is a few tracks where i had to use burnt CDs as opposed to bought CDs and i failed to precisely adjust the gains. still, it only happens once at the beginning i think, and once towards the end. thankfully this is just a mix, as i dont have a "demo."

My demo is my personality and friends, like you guys, who let everyone know that despite these minor recording flaws, that i will tear it up given the opportunity Smiley

thanks for the comments! BOOM!

it may be cheesy by societies standards but im genuine and serious about that...

the only reason i recorded the mix was because Witchdokta had told Chris that we all needed to give him some sample mixes around the time of Third Eye, so i recorded my Third Eye set the night before Smiley Witchdokta mentioned the same thing you did about improving the volumes and levels of track blending, but I told him the same thing, this is not my demo Smiley my demo comes with more than just my mixing abilities, for all people know im using Traktor to auto-sync the BPM Smiley i feel that my connection to the music i play yields a far greater experience than just the music blended by itself, even if it can be done flawlessly Smiley

very well said Abe, you do exude a tremendous amount of energy when you are behind the decks that is on a different plane than the music itself

No offense intended Smiley
I would vouch for you as a DJ if anyone ever asked... so what you say IS true.

I still think it's cheezy, hehe.  Grin

for all people know im using Traktor to auto-sync the BPM Smiley

I didn't know that actually. You re-record your tracks at a specific BPM and burn them out before you play?? I guess we all have our own little tricks. One of my friends here in Chicago does the same thing.

bring on the cheese! (wait til you hear me and Airyck's tag)

BOOOOOOOOOOM!

I am eagerly anticipating it  Grin

@Energon:

my comment about Traktor was simply to make a point, that flawless beat matching in a demo is overrated, as it can easily be done in Traktor. a few errors now and again, within a mix, are healthy, because they show that the person is human in my opinion Smiley

not trying to justify why my mix isnt flawless, just saying that im glad its not, so that people dont have the chance to wrongly assume that I was mixing using software / auto beat matching, or something.

hurray for CDJs!

@Energon:

First:

My friend, can you give me a few reasons that stand behind your "It's cheesy" statement?
Pls, explain your point.

Second:

Psychedelic trance DJ sets are not like techno or house music. They don't need precise beatmatching & precise EQing.
The only thing that matters is to avoid getting a lot of kicks at one time (please, don't get me wrong about something. Of course that you need to pay attention to the crossfade between two tracks, I'm not saying that the mix should be chaotic)
The most important part of psychedelic trance DJing is the plot of the story.
A psychedelic trance mix is not valuable if it lacks of plot, even if its mixed and produced under high quality equipment & circumstances.
Take Goa Gil for example:
Goa Gil doesn't care for the mix, whether if it lacks few dB of low frequencies or not.
Sometimes, he is not even beatmatching the track.
But, according to me, he is the best story teller in the history of psychedelic trance.
Of course, there is Simon Posford (aka Hallucinogen) or Raja Ram.
But Goa Gil can tell you a story that you will never forget.
A story that's going to take you on a journey, far beyond something that you can imagine.

My point:

That's the essence of psychedelic trance DJing.
People should see psychedelic trance sets more from the spiritual side, not from the technical.

Even if you were Abe, it doesn't really matter.
Although CDJs are beautiful and sound really good, DJing from a computer can be a really good thing, if we consider the fact that technology is pushing the limits of everything Smiley. A laptop with few MIDI devices, a professional sound card and a professional software like Ableton Live or Traktor can be a great DJing tool. But some other topic for that, not here Wink

Namaste

David.
