@Energon:
First:
My friend, can you give me a few reasons that stand behind your "It's cheesy" statement?
Pls, explain your point.
Second:
Psychedelic trance DJ sets are not like techno or house music. They
don't need precise beatmatching & precise EQing.
The only thing that matters is to avoid getting
a lot of kicks at one time (please, don't get me wrong about something. Of course that you need to pay attention to the crossfade between two tracks, I'm not saying that the mix should be chaotic)
The
most important part of psychedelic trance DJing is the
plot of the story.
A psychedelic trance mix is not valuable if it lacks of plot, even if its mixed and produced under high quality equipment & circumstances.
Take Goa Gil for example:
Goa Gil doesn't care for the mix, whether if it lacks few dB of low frequencies or not.
Sometimes, he is not even beatmatching the track.
But, according to me, he is the best story teller in the history of psychedelic trance.
Of course, there is Simon Posford (aka Hallucinogen) or Raja Ram.
But Goa Gil can tell you a story that you will never forget.
A story that's going to take you on a journey, far beyond something that you can imagine.
My point:
That's the essence of psychedelic trance DJing.
People should see psychedelic trance sets more from the spiritual side, not from the technical.
...just saying that im glad its not, so that people dont have the chance to wrongly assume that I was mixing using software / auto beat matching, or something.
Even if you were Abe, it doesn't really matter.
Although CDJs are beautiful and sound really good, DJing from a computer can be a really good thing, if we consider the fact that technology is pushing the limits of everything

. A laptop with few MIDI devices, a professional sound card and a professional software like Ableton Live or Traktor can be a great DJing tool. But some other topic for that, not here

Namaste
David.
